Hello beautiful community!

I’m Kelsey O. Daniels (she/they), an artist, organizer, and scholar from Southeast San Diego. My work centers on storytelling, world-building, and dreamwork as tools for liberation. As a fat, Black, queer, disabled femme, I honor my ancestors and descendants by envisioning affirming, vibrant futures. Through initiatives like the Black Dream Experiment, I curate spaces that explore Black imagination as a collective practice of ancestral wellness and liberation.

Current Transition

I’m stepping into a beautiful new season—one rooted in communal dreaming and abundant self-care. After 500 days in my first San Diego apartment and navigating the yellow brick road of the 2020s, I’m embracing new possibilities, making space for deeper rest, connection, and creativity. This transition involves moving out of my current apartment and “consenting to the surrender and faith necessary for my dreams to be released, nurtured, and actualized.”

As I navigate this liminal space between homes, I’m choosing to dance in the hallway while I prepare for the doors to my the next dream space to open. As I embrace this in-between period, it’s a reminder that dreaming isn’t just about what we envision for the future—it’s about how we resource each other in the present.

Currently, I’m in San Diego and seeking local support for the tangible offers but welcome support in getting the word out globally. Also I plan on traveling soon and am excited to continue to move in community care on my dream tour (more on that soon 👀).

As I navigate this shift, here are some ways to support your friendly neighborhood dreamworker:

Resource & Skill Share

• Housing: Temporary spaces like Airbnb credits, hotel stays, or guest suites to rest and create. I’m also exploring long-term housing options in the 92114 area.

• Wellness: Access to holistic practices such as reiki, massage, chiropractic care, or acupuncture.

• Food: Opportunities to share home-cooked meals, cook together, or engage in communal meal prep.

• Creative Collaborations: Engagements in artistic endeavors, performances, vending opportunities, or community events.

• Administrative Support: Assistance with tasks like scheduling, correspondence, and other administrative duties.

• Business and Tax Guidance: Insights on business formation, tax planning, and compliance.

• Resource and Wisdom Sharing: Mentorship and knowledge-sharing from experienced professionals.

Dream Outside The Box

Mutual aid is about creatively sharing from your overflow to show up in care for your community. Here are some examples of way to host a “dream raiser” in my honor:

  • Pass the Dream Plate: At your next event, gathering, or open mic, take a moment to “pass the plate” and invite folks to contribute to my transition fund.

  • Raffles & Giveaways: If you’re an artist, healer, or business owner, consider raffling off a piece of your work, a service, or an experience and donating the proceeds.

  • Art for Abundance: If you’re a maker, you can sell a special piece or a percentage of sales for a week/month to pour into this dream.

  • Community Dinner Party: Host a dinner party or potluck where the ‘entry fee’ is a donation to my transition. Bonus: It also feeds communal dreaming and care!

  • Mutual Aid Circles: Organize a collective fundraiser with your people—whether it’s a small group pooling funds, a workplace effort, or a creative challenge where people contribute in my honor.

I am abundantly grateful for the blessing of ongoing communal care. I’ve literally been freestyling this thing since April 2020 surviving and thriving off the prayer I said while I was furloughed.

Between God, the ancestors, and my community I will not fall.

Thank you for being the embodiment of that sacred prayer. My wish is for abundant interdependence for all of us as we divest from the ugly and unimaginative and lean into the abundant love that is waiting for us.
